Ephectic

I'm not actually intelligent; I'm just sad.

Regardless of what the signs in the stores say, there is no such thing as a short-sleeved dress shirt.

—Lisa Birnbach, The Official Preppy Handbook (Workman Publishing, 1980) 141.

I’m probably going to get in trouble for this, but guys on the East Coast just dress better. They look better, they carry themselves a different way.

THE P&B Q&A BRAD GORESKI, By Tyler Thoreson

I got called Blaine multiple times today because of how I was dressed— problems of coming from the east coast to the west coast I suppose. But what really irked me was:

1. I know a pre-tied bow-tie is unacceptable.

2. I know, which Blaine desperately needs to realize, that Lisa Birnbach wrote, “Regardless of what the signs in the stores say, there is no such thing as a short-sleeved dress shirt”.

3. I know not to use a tub of pomade per day.

I had forgotten the hairspray, the most important thing for a conductor right after knowing how to tie your own bow-tie, having shirts the right size and wearing braces that don’t shrink[.]
